It is the obligation of all Sober Homeowners/operators and staff to value and respect each resident and to put each individual’s recovery and needs at the forefront of all decision making.
To meet this obligation, we adhere to the following principles which reflect our code of ethics:
- Evaluate each prospective resident’s needs to determine if the support provided within the Sober Home aligns with their requirements.
- Offer guidance for referrals both within and outside the residence when needed.
- Embrace diversity and uphold principles of non-discrimination.
- Foster a safe, welcoming environment that adheres to MASH/NARR Standards.
- Ensure the residence remains free of alcohol and illicit drugs.
- Respect each individual’s right to choose their recovery path within the guidelines established by the Sober Home.
- Safeguard residents’ privacy and personal rights.
- Enforce rules consistently and fairly.
Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of all residents. - Treat all residents fairly and impartially in every situation.
- Support residents in maintaining connections with professionals, recovery service providers, and support networks.
- Take necessary measures to prevent and address bullying, intimidation, sexual harassment, or any threatening behavior by residents, staff, or visitors.
- Ensure no resident faces retaliation, intimidation, or adverse consequences for filing a grievance or complaint.
- Implement fair and standardized drug testing procedures that support recovery, maintain a healthy environment, and protect residents’ privacy.
- Make residents’ recovery needs the central focus of all decision-making.
- Represent the Sober Home truthfully and ethically in all marketing and advertising efforts.
- Refrain from assuming a primary role in the recovery plans of close friends, family members, or business associates.
- Maintain transparency in financial and operational decision-making.
- Establish and uphold clear personal and professional boundaries.
- Operate within the designated scope of service and in accordance with professional training and credentials.
- Contribute to a peaceful and secure environment for both residents and the surrounding community.
